Sons & Daughters

For over 9 years I've been blessed with having children fill the void within my home.  With four children there is never a true silent moment during the day.  Between the homeschooling, video gaming, and the other endless activities, they seem to always have a way to fill the air with their noises.  Most of the sounds are pleasant, but occasionally the noises can cut right to my core, making the home environment very unpleasant.
I've often joked how I've waited for a instruction manual to arrive with each newly born child, but I've never been so lucky.  If not a book, at least a small pamphlet with some basic vital instructions would've been nice to help with the raising of each child, but again, nothing arrived.
I suppose waiting is actually a waste of time when it comes to raising children.  The 'how to' just seems to come, sometimes just at the right moment.  I mean, so far my children are doing pretty well...actually I'm pretty proud of each of them!  They know how to speak in a language that I can mostly understand, all know how to use the toliet...well, the youngest is still in training,  it for the most part they are all pretty self sufficient with the daily tasks that need to get done. So, I'm sastisfied.
My oldest only has 9 more years until he reaches the age of 18, which if you ask me is pretty scary. I have only that short amount of time before he'll have the choice to leave our nest and live his own life and I can only hope they he and the rest will make the best life decisions.  I believe this is every parents wish...they do better than their parents.
Well, that's my rant for the night...

You're At Where You're At

Wouldn't it be wonderful to actually love your job...that each of us would get out of bed each day two hours before our alarm clock started buzzing because we couldn't wait to get into our car and be on our way to work?
For most of us reading this...

...this is FAR from the truth.

You're probably the one who stays up late trying to catch up with things around the home with the hope to get to bed at a reasonable time so you can get up in the morning slamming the snooze button while thinking to yourself,

                        "please, just five more minutes!"

"Going to work just seems to get in the way."

"It seems like a waste of time...exchanging my time for a few dollars."

Well, whether we like our jobs or not, the fact is we're at where we're at with having to work.  Since this is true, why not do our best at whatever it is that we're required to do until another job opportunity comes our way?

What if you're at where you're at for a reason that's more than just a paycheck?

Maybe you're the one that will help that co-worker of yours get through his/her time of depression.  Maybe you're the one that will make a positive life changing difference in a life of a customer.  Maybe God put you there for one particular reason, because He knew that only YOU could make that difference for that one individual.

God knew that you would be there.  God knew He could count on you.  He could count on your smile. Your personality.  Your particular knowledge on a particular topic is what was needed and God wanted you to be there.

Maybe we should look a little harder at our work surroundings, or even listen a little longer to that one employee that you believe "talks to much"... we just may find out why we're at where we're at.  We may have one specific purpose or assignment to accomplish besides making a few dollars an hour.

With this type of mindset for our work places our attitudes will change toward a more positive and purposeful one.

How do you begin?

Pray for guidance.  Pray for wisdom.  Pray for clear focus of why you're working at the place you're at.  After you pray, look, listen and feel you're way around your workspace and learn the why of where you're at.

Thoughts?  Love to hear your comments - please share!

The Initial Post!! (Don't Waste Your Time Reading It!!)

Well, I have talked about it and talked about it.  I've even almost started, but then got sidetracked. Days passed, weeks, and yep...even years have passed - still nothing!  Many times I've sat on the couch watching TV and thought I should start, but then I'd get into the show I was watching and soon enough bedtime would become the present thought on my mind.  A couple of times I'd even sit down to begin, but then my children or wife would need me so I would give them my time.

Tonight, is the beginning - finally!

Yep, tonight I'm actually posting my first post for my blog...brianbeshears.com (well, the domain isn't up and running yet, but at least I've purchased it!)

I wonder. Will the world accept what I'll post?  Will I lose a few friends because of what I'll post? Will anyone actually read anything I'll post?

Only time will tell. So cheers for the first post!
